The Faema E61 was the first espresso machine to use a volumetric pump to give the brew water a constant pressure during the extraction process. First designed in 1961 (hence the name), this design, along with the E61 group head, revolutionised the espresso machine market and is still the standard implemented today throughout the industry.
The new machines are built using modern technology and components but stays true to the original design. There are 2 modern base models - the semi automatic "Legend" which is the same as the original 1960's version, and the "Jubile" which is fully automatic and features programmable volumetric dosing buttons.
